Overview
Ajloun Castle (Qalat ar-Rabad) was built in 1184 by one of Saladin's generals to defend against Crusader campaigns and watch over ancient trade routes. From its walls, you get panoramic views that sometimes stretch as far as the Jordan Valley and the Jordan River.
After visiting the castle, you'll head to the nearby Ajloun Forest Reserve, one of Jordan's most beautiful natural areas, covered in oak, pine, and wild pistachio trees. Short walking trails suitable for all ages let you enjoy the nature and fresh air.
